Boardman Set to Redesign Manchester's City Streets

Speaking to British Cycling he said that, “I’ve not met anybody who is not totally up for change. All they want is a plan. Give me some evidence and a reason to do it and I’m with you.”

He says that he has been offered full commitment and backing from Burnham. His job as an adviser at British Cycling has given him a good insight into some of the problems and difficulties in getting more people on their bikes.

Boardman Calls For Highway Code Change

Chris Boardman and British Cycling launched a campaign today to make a change to the Highway Code, calling for a ‘universal’ rule to give way when turning at a junction.

Boardman says that, “At the moment there are 14 different rules around how you navigate a corner. It’s the most hazardous thing any of us do, regardless of if you’re on a bike, in a car or a pedestrian; it’s the most dangerous place in the road. Two thirds of all accidents happen at or around junctions.”

Chris Hoy on the Tour: "Somebody's Going to get Killed"

Speaking in Central London last night, Sir Chris Hoy criticised Tour de France organisers for allowing spectators to flood the roads during yesterday's Mont Ventoux stage.

Chris Froome, Richie Porte and Bauke Mollema spectacularly crashed into a TV motorbike which braked suddenly to avoid the throngs of spectators blocking the route. Froome ended up running up the mountain after his own bike was run over and damaged beyond repair.

Halfords and Laura Trott Team Up

Halfords have announced the launch of a new range of women’s bikes in partnership with Olympic track cyclist, Laura Trott. She follows former Olympic champions Victoria Pendleton, Sir Bradley Wiggins and Chris Boardman in partnering the motoring and cycling retailer.

The bikes will be available in July and will include three road bikes and one hybrid with prices starting at £499.
